Dear brothers and sisters,

I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with our Summer Camp Operations Team in reaching out to about 50 children this summer. The team faithfully planned, prepared, and carried out the camp, working hard to make sure the children were safe and had a great time.

Throughout all ten days, our Team Coaches faithfully watched over and cared for their groups of children from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., guiding them through the day's activities, transitions, and everything in between. Our Game MC took the lead in overseeing and preparing all ten days of morning games/activities, with the help of a team member who faithfully worked behind the scenes even though he was unable to join the camp because of work.

Others also led afternoon games and activities and served in many ways throughout the day. Many served in ways that were not always visible, such as cleaning up after each program, while some took care of our lunch needs. The Safety Team also played an important role, taking care of minor injuries and helping to calm upset children.

I cannot express enough my appreciation for the time, effort, and care that the whole team poured into the camp. But most of all, our ultimate goal was to share Christ and His gospel with these children.

This year’s theme was “One King, Seven Signs, Your Adventure,” and the whole camp focused on the seven signs recorded in the Gospel of John. As John says in John 20:31, he recorded these signs “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (ESV)

The aim of our Bible lessons was to show the children through these signs that Jesus is the Son of God, the Creator who came into the world He made to give His life for sinners. We may not know how much the children will remember or whether they fully grasped what was taught during the camp. We don't know what results God will bring. Yet our responsibility is to faithfully sow the Word and point the children to Christ and their need for Him. Since we cannot manufacture faith, we must continue to pray that the Holy Spirit, who uses the Word of God as His instrument, would work in their hearts.

At the same time, the experience of teaching — and often even shouting — the truth about Jesus to these children was unforgettable and precious. I will never forget how the children (at least some of them!) were drawn to the truth that Jesus’ body was broken for our sake, and the image of Jesus taking the bite of death on our behalf. Moments like these remind us what a joy it is to proclaim Christ to children.

I certainly hope that ministry to these children does not end with camp. We had the privilege of proclaiming Christ—and now we continue to do so. This fall, starting September 11, we will launch a pilot children’s media club called StoryQuest. Each week, we will have Bible lessons, media skills teaching, and hands-on scene building and filming, culminating in a premiere of the children’s finished project on December 11. I am hoping that the same Christ-centered, Word-centered approach will continue into the fall.

Please pray for the participating children and all the leaders. Our hope, as always, is that the children would come to know Christ, understand their need for Him, and find Christ more precious than anything the world can offer.

還有許多服事是在幕後進行的，可能不一定會被看見，例如每個活動結束後收拾場地、處理午餐等各種需要。Safety Team 也扮演了非常重要的角色，照顧孩子們的小傷口，也在孩子難過或情緒不安時陪伴、安撫他們。

真的很難用言語表達我對整個團隊的感激。謝謝大家在這十天裡所付出的時間和愛心。但最重要的是，我們最終的目標，是把基督和祂的福音帶給這群孩子。

今年的主題是「一位君王、七個神蹟、你的冒險」（One King, Seven Signs, Your Adventure），整個夏令營都是圍繞著《約翰福音》所記載的七個神蹟。正如約翰福音20:31 所說，約翰記載這些神蹟，是「要叫你們信耶穌是基督，是神的兒子，並且叫你們信了祂，就可以因祂的名得生命。」（ESV）

我們聖經課程的目標，是藉著這些神蹟讓孩子們看見，耶穌是神的兒子，是那位創造主；祂來到祂所創造的世界，為罪人捨去自己的生命。我們可能不知道孩子們會記得多少，也不知道他們是否真正明白夏令營中教導的所有內容。我們也不知道神將會帶來甚麼樣的結果。然而，我們的責任就是忠心地撒下神的道，並將孩子們指向基督，以及他們對基督的需要。既然我們不能製造信心，就必須繼續禱告，求聖靈藉著神的話語在他們的心裡工作。

但與此同時，向這些孩子教導 —— 而且很多時候甚至是大聲喊出 —— 關於耶穌的真理，那種經歷實在難忘而珍貴。我永遠不會忘記，孩子們（至少其中一些！）是怎樣被「耶穌的身體為我們而被破碎」這個真理所吸引，也被「耶穌為我們承受死亡的咬噬」這個畫面所吸引。這樣的時刻提醒我，能夠向孩子宣講基督，是何等大的喜樂。

我實在盼望，對這些孩子的事奉不會隨著夏令營結束而結束。我們有幸在夏令營中宣講基督，而現在我們要繼續如此。今年秋季，從 9 月 11 日開始，我們將推出一個試辦的兒童媒體俱樂部，名為 StoryQuest。每週我們都會有聖經課程、媒體技巧教學，以及親手搭建場景和拍攝影片的實作活動，最後會在 12 月 11 日舉行孩子們完成作品的首映會。我盼望同樣以基督、以神的話語為中心的事奉方針，也能延續到秋季的活動中。

請為參與的孩子和所有領袖禱告。我們一如既往的盼望，是孩子們能夠認識基督、明白自己需要祂，並且發現基督比這個世界所能提供的一切都更加寶貴。
